In a long line of industry changing electric guitars, the ES-125 is one of the oldest and most influential. Developed as a test to see if Gibson could sell any electrics at all in the early 1940's, the originally named ES-100 evolved over time into the recognizable and budget friendly ES-125 we know today, with its P90 pickup, laminate maple body for feedback resistance, comfortable slightly chunky C neck shape, and impressive sound both plugged and unplugged.

This particular example from 1959 has the late 50's 1 11/16s nut width, along with the slightly longer 24.9" scale length, making for fast playing and punchy tone.

This guitar sounds exactly like you'd want a 125 to sound: warm, slightly bassy, and extremely expressive. Strung with 12 gauge nickel wound strings, this guitar is comfortable and very playable.

Visually, the guitar is in excellent condition, with checking only around the pickup area, as well as here and there by the tailpiece. There are the occasional ding on the sides and back, as well as some scratches on the back. The top has a line of birdseye running down near the center, an interesting visual marking. The tuners, electronics, and pickup are original, as well as the bridge; the bottom section of the tailpiece has been repaired, as well as a strap button being added to the neck heel. This guitar has been refretted. Comes with a non-original hardshell case.
