Martin Custom Shop 5-28 Terz
A lovely Custom Shop design from Martin, this 5-28 terz model serves as a short scale guitar than can be strung up in two ways. It shares similar specs to a OM-28 with a spruce/rosewood pairing and upgraded binding and center seam inlay. Comes with a hardcase. Designed to be played in "terz" tuning: G-C-F-A#-D-G, up a minor third. When in this tuning, the recommended string gauge is .011-.052. May also be played in E standard tuning, in which case medium gauge strings (.013-.056) are ideal. Regular light gauge (.012-.053) would also work fine.
From Martin: "The Martin 5-28 Terz answers long-standing player demand for the return of this uniquely voiced Size 5 model to the Martin lineup—now the smallest guitar we offer. With roots dating back to the earliest days of Martin, this ultra-compact 12-fret instrument features a short 21.38" scale length and is designed for Terz tuning—a minor third higher than standard—delivering a focused, bell-like voice that adds shimmer, clarity, and new sonic texture to any arrangement. Style 28 appointments—including a gloss spruce top with aging toner, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, antique white binding, and mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlays—pair premium craftsmanship with distinctive tone. Despite its compact size, it offers surprising depth and can also be tuned to standard pitch for added versatility."
