We are very fortunate to have two beautiful personal instruments of John Monteleone's for sale at our shop right now. This Monteleone archtop is an Eclipse model, serial #287, and is the 40th Anniversary Special.
The guitar is made of flamed Italian curly maple and Italian red spruce. The fretboard and other applied external parts are made of Macassar ebony. This guitar has one SIDE-SOUND ™ sound port. (John was an early pioneer in using sound holes on the sides of the guitar, as opposed to just on the top.) Natural blonde lacquer finish.
John made only four of these anniversary guitars: the first two models were made for Eric Clapton, and the third one went to Rudy Pensa. This one, #287, was the last of the series and remained with John as his personal guitar.
The instrument is in excellent condition, as one might expect from one of the most acclaimed luthiers in the world who built it and kept it for a while to enjoy.
Comes with its original deluxe hardshell case.
