This is an incredible piece of guitar history: a 1950 D'Angelico New Yorker, built by John D'Angelico himself.

The New Yorker features Art Deco stylings influenced by the New York City skyline, and is gorgeously appointed. This guitar features a solid spruce top, gorgeous flamed maple back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and gold hardware. All parts are original, except for the pickguard which has been replaced (as is customary with most guitars of the era). The lower bout width is 18 inches.

This guitar has a thin vintage nitro finish in Blonde and has been oversprayed. Parts of the binding were repaired at some point. Made for Ray Wood and completed on 4/27/50, according to D'Angelico's ledger.
Serial #1840. Comes with a non-original hardshell case.
