This is most likely one of the first SGs Gibson ever built. Between the inked serial number, the potentiometer dates, and the construction of the neck heel, we're certain this SG is from 1960, one of the very few from the year before the full launch of the model in 1961.

Restored to more than its original glory, this 1960 Gibson Les Paul (SG) is an incredible piece of history brought back to life. After suffering a heel break long ago, this guitar had been refinished white and converted to an SG Custom. We sent it to our good friends at Cesco's Corner Tone Team, and they restored it back to its original beauty, plus a ridiculously good looking Pelham Blue finish!

The body, once routed for a third pickup, has been expertly filled with almost perfect grain matched mahogany to return it to factory spec, along with the previously broken neck joint being reinforced and repaired with the same method. The headstock, once routed for Custom style binding and inlay, has been restored with mahogany plugs and the correct holly veneer and flower inlay, but the original Gibson logo remains.

The original Brazilian rosewood fretboard has been refretted to bring this guitar back to perfect playing condition. Minus the modern tuners, the hardware is all period correct, sourced to return this guitar to factory spec.

With two period correct real PAF pickups (the bridge pickup is an incredibly rare narrow spaced Byrdland version with a custom made cover), and the original wiring (pots dating to the 27th week of 1960), this guitar is, quite simply, the sound you're looking for. It's equal parts loud/brash and mellow/sweet, with incredible dexterity and clarity, not to mention it has sustain for ages.

Though it's had quite a life, seeing these miracle guitars come back to the land of the living is always a privilege, and it's here right now waiting for its new life to begin! Serial #0_9037 comes with the original Lifton hardshell case.
