Here's one for the books folks! A real 'Banner' Gibson LG-2, this guitar is in great shape and fully lives up to the banner lore. Dating these models can be very hard, as this guitar doesn’t have a serial number or factory order number. Moreover many of these models made during the wartime feature specs that seem to vary by the day! Take the laminate maple neck on this one, with a walnut center piece, certainly rarer than the traditional mahogany neck we often see. The addition of a functional truss rod is also a plus, given how many of these earlier '40s examples were often sent out without one to conserve on metal production. With that said this example has a truly large D shaped neck that is worthy of the 'baseball' bat description for the neck profile. This example has had a recent neck reset and replaced nut and saddle, the original bridge was reglued at some point. No overspray keeps the original finish vibrant and in great shape, its a tremendous player and cuts above its weight in terms of volume and projection. Comes with a non original case.
