Gibson 1971 ES-335, Walnut
These early 70's ES-335's are always a treat to get in here at Rudy’s Music. They are a perfect transition of 60's specs and quality while showcasing a few of the unique Norlin era changes. Most notable is the 3-piece mahogany neck, which was changed to 3-piece maple by the mid-70's. Another change was the popular 'walnut' finish, begun at the tail end of the '60s and a defining look for Gibson guitars in the 70's. The original patent sticker T-Tops are a joy to play, with a sparkle and clarity not found on PAF-style humbuckers. Cosmetically this guitar is in great shape with mimimal lacquer checking or wear. Minor surface wear can be found in the provided photos.
This example is largely original, with any changes noted below. The pot codes are dated 1st and 9th week of 1971, with a C neck profile that measures .788"/1st and .985"/9th.
