Ovation c. 1978 Preacher #E15587 w/non-orig bag
Something a little different from the pioneers over at Ovation!
About Ovation
Best known for their signature "semi-parabolic" acoustic guitars, Charles Kaman and his team of aerospace engineers started producing Ovation guitars in 1966. These instantly recognizable instruments quickly found favor among touring musicians and hobbyists alike for their high quality construction and unique feature sets. Aircraft-grade polymer bodies and cutting-edge electronics made Ovation guitars very appealing to players of the period, and they remain very popular among collectors today.
"The Preacher"
Made right alongside their excellent acoustic instruments in New Hartford, Connecticut, this circa 1978 Preacher solid-body electric guitar is in great vintage shape and is a blast to play!
This example has a one-piece Mahogany body, bolted on to a Mahogany neck, complete with an Ebony fingerboard and 24 frets! The double-cut body makes reaching those last few frets a breeze on this guitar, and the 10" radius on the board lends itself nicely to speedy playing styles. A sturdy brass bridge and nut allow this guitar to sustain beautifully. The proprietary mini humbucking pickups sound great to us here at the shop. They are very similar to other mini humbuckers from this period, but just a little bit hotter in our opinion. They can push most amps into a natural overdrive with relative ease.
Additionally, our expert repair technicians have gone through this guitar and set it up perfectly, as they do with every vintage instrument that we take in. In this case, the stereo wiring and output jacks have been simplified by our techs, opting for a much more desirable mono jack and control set. Sometimes simpler is better, and for a rock machine like this guitar, we think that a mono set up is far more practical.
