After the scattershot attempt in 1976 at reissuing the '59 Burst with the Les Paul KM (the dark bursted Les Pauls made more known in recent years by Youtuber Robert Baker), Gibson once again took a shot at reissuing their most popular guitar- this time in 1980 with the Les Paul Heritage, a more faithful recreation than the previous attempt.

This particular 1982 example has had a life- previous neck break has been cleanly repaired and is structurally sound. The one-piece mahogany neck itself is a comfortable C shape, not too large and not too small. The frets are low, but still are playable. The tuners are the original 80's Grover Rotomatics, and they work great and look nice and worn.

Other than the headstock break, the bridge pickup had been replaced with a Seymour Duncan JB, which pairs nicely with the original Tim Shaw humbucker in the neck position. The electronics are original, dated to the middle of 1982, and are topped with the 50's style amber knobs. The bridge and tailpiece are newer replacements, but are set up great and play well.

As per usual, the nut width is 1 11/16 and the scale is the normal 24.75". All in all, this is a great vintage reissue that is, in itself, now vintage. Serial #82142603 comes with period hard shell case, likely original.
