The GTe Urban Ash was the debut of a new body shape from Taylor: the Grand Theater. It appeals to players of all skill levels with its compact frame, accommodating feel, and powerful voice. This model features a scaled-down body that echoes the jumbo curves of Taylor's Grand Orchestra shape, with its dimensions reduced to create an extremely approachable feel. GT’s interior also includes some innovation, with a new asymmetrical bracing design called C-Class bracing. With this new structure, Taylor found a way to bring the tonal benefits of V-Class bracing to the smaller GT body shape, producing more volume and longer sustain while also bolstering the GT’s bass response. The result is low-end power from a smaller-bodied guitar.
This first GT model also featured a new tonewood for Taylor: the back and sides are made of solid Urban Ash, which gives a rich, shimmering midrange accented by crystal clear highs. Visually, the GT is appointed with modest details such as a three-ring koa rosette and Pinnacle inlays in Italian acrylic, preserving its accessible price point and clean aesthetic. The finish is a super-thin, water-based matte finish, stained with Urban Sienna on the back and sides which preserves the wood’s visual texture and allows the player to feel the grain through the finish. Onboard ES2 electronics provide quick plug-and-play functionality when you need amplified sound. This model includes a sturdy, lightweight AeroCase for easy, safe transport.
"Taylor's smallest fully-solid wood instrument, the Grand Theater is one of the easiest playing acoustic guitars available. The low tension complements fingerpicking or electric lead playing style.” - Ian, Taylor Guitars Expert at Rudy's Music
