Bruce Weber is an American mandolin builder known both for his own company (until his sale of Weber in 2016) and for working for both Gibson and Flatiron as a builder and designer. In his time with multiple companies, and working with famed mandolin players like Bill Monroe, he formulated the ideas that would bring Weber instruments to the forefront of modern mandolin manufacturing: classic designs combined with modern techniques and customizable features that let the artist and maker work together to create the instrument of their dreams. Bruce eventually sold the company, which now resides in Bend, OR alongside a number of venerable builders, but the company still produces instruments that more than measure up to the exacting standards set up during its inception in the 1990's.

This is a gorgeous 2001 Big Sky Mandola, with a longer 17" scale, that absolutely exemplifies the quality the company has been known for. The year places it firmly int he period where Bruce had a direct hand in every instrument. The flamed maple back and sides are absolutely stunning, and the cedar top has incredible grain. This mandola is incredibly playable, with a comfortable V shaped neck, a longer scale for more volume and punch. The finish is a gorgeous varnish "Antique Walnut Burst", bound with Ivory, and black and white binding. The Big Sky series is long discontinued, so it's a great opportunity! This instrument is in great condition, with just a few scratches here and there. Serial #103207 comes with the original hard shell case.
