This 1968 Fender Telecaster came to us with a previously amateurishly done paint job of red and black stripes, a la EVH, and replacement pickups, so we sent it to our good friends at Cesco's Corner Tone Team to refinish it to their exacting standards, and boy did they!
Though the neck was the original finish, the headstock had been painted over Red, and they removed the red paint flake by flake, revealing the original logo and color/finish to a degree where you could never tell there was any other finish there. The body has been stripped and refinished in a correct 60's blonde, though during its last unfortunate finish job it had been thinned down slightly when the body was sanded.
The tuners, ashtray cover, and wiring (plate, knobs, pots, switch) are all original. The previously high gain pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan Antiquity II 60's Telecaster pickups, and they're incredibly bright and present, just like you'd want from a vintage Tele. They're mounted into a new three-ply Fender pickguard.
The bridge assembly are modern Fender replacements, but the ashtray cover is the original. This guitar has a great late 60's neck, with a comfortable 1.65" nut width and a C shaped maple neck (complete with maple cap and original frets) that make for a great playing guitar that feels like you'd want every vintage guitar to feel like. Serial #251116 comes with a non-original Fender tweed case.
