Collings Guitars, named for their late founder Bill Collings, is particularly known for their quality of sound and construction, and this 2013 Collings MT-O Gloss top is no exception. With a gloss coated nitrocellulose finish on an Engelmann Spruce top, often considered the best for mandolin construction, and a gorgeous two piece flamed maple back with satin nitro, along with an X brace pattern, usual for A style mandolins, Collings aim to construct a more affordable, but still professional quality mandolin definitely hit their mark.
Also on this mandolin is a radiused ebony fretboard with pearl dot inlay, an ebony adjustable bridge, a Collings string through tailpiece, and nickel tuners with black buttons.
Visually, this mandolin is almost new, with no discerning marks or scratches. There is a reasonable amount of fret wear.
