Up for sale is a exquisite first year Johnny Smith model from Gibson, a '61 example that is in great condition. The most expensive guitar is Gibson's catalog for a brief moment, the JS model represented the peak of their archtop collection, a perfect blend of old world craft in its solid carved spruce top matched with their new floating mini-humbucker for amplification. The 17" body puts it in a L-5 territory, and the deluxe fingerboard inlay and headstock ornamentation harken to the Super 400 model. Electronics have been replaced, with the original in the case. A modern 1/4" jack has been installed, with a newer lead from the pickup also done at some point. Weighs 6.5lbs, with a thin C neck profile that measures .805"/1st and .850"/12th. Comes with the original case.
