Up for sale is a exquisite first year Johnny Smith model from Gibson, a '61 example that is in great condition. The most expensive guitar is Gibson's catalog for a brief moment, the JS model represented the peak of their archtop collection, a perfect blend of old world craft in its solid carved spruce top matched with their new floating mini-humbucker for amplification. The 17" body puts it in a L-5 territory, and the deluxe fingerboard inlay and headstock ornamentation harken to the Super 400 model. Electronics are original and the volume pot is dated the 48th week of 1961. This guitar has had the pickguard replaced, pickup lead replaced and a strap button added to the heel. Comes with the original case and case cover.
