Originally made by Gibson for Montgomery Ward, the Recording Kind brand was built right alongside Gibson branded models in the Gibson factory. The M-3 model is most similar to a Gibson L-50 of the time, with a carved spruce top, and laminate maple back and sides (this example has shows off a surprisingly vibrant flame maple laminate back and sides). It also has a interesting 5-piece maple/walnut neck, with a large, but soft V neck profile that is very easy to play. Also features a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge.
No cracks or repairs of note, this guitar is remarkably well preserved for a guitar of its age. It has a great sound, and comfy thanks to the 16" body. No adjustable truss rod but the neck has the correct touch of relief and set up with light gauge 12 acoustic strings. Modern open back Waverly tuners have been added, and it is missing the endpin. Comes with a non original hardcase.
