The Builder's Edition 517e from Taylor Guitars offers an entirely new kind of acoustic tone within the Taylor family and an exciting entry into the history of the traditional deadnought guitar. Among the first Taylor models built with the new Grand Pacific shape—a round-shoulder dreadnought—this 517e is made with back and sides of solid neo-tropical mahogany and a torrefied Sitka spruce top. Torrefaction, Taylor's special wood-roasting process, adds an aged-in sweetness to this model's tonal character, blending gorgeously with a punchy midrange and clear low-end presence for a dusky, warm tone that hearkens back to vintage acoustic recordings. V-Class bracing delivers serious tonal benefits from under the hood, regulating the vibration of the top to help produce louder volume, longer sustain and a more in-tune sound up and down the neck. Complete with built-in ES2 electronics for faithful plugged-in sound, the Builder's Edition 517e ships in a deluxe hardshell guitar case.
“The torrefied spruce top really opens up how this grand pacific presents itself. Being a builders edition, all the stops were pulled in making this a really comfortable players guitar.” - Ian, Taylor Guitars Expert
