Martin's Retro series was a line of guitars almost identical to their standard production guitars, save the addition of a European spruce top and either the Fishman F1 or the Fishman Aura VT Enhance pickup. This particular example from 2017 comes with the later pickup, the Aura Enhance, and it sounds great.
The D-35, one of Martin's less appreciated models, came about in the 1960's as a way to conserve rosewood by using three separate strips instead of a two piece matched back. These guitars became synonymous with the late 1960's and 1970's as one of the most popular models Martin ever produced, but losing popularity into the late 20th century.
This guitar has the modern Low Oval profile, along with a 1 11/16ths nut for extra playability, and the European spruce top is incredibly resonant. This guitar is in great condition, having just been set up by our techs in Scarsdale. There are a few scratches on the pickguard, as well as a few dings here or there, but overall this guitar has been extremely well taken care of.
Serial #2142768 comes with the original Martin hardshell case.
